Alyssa Newlon started Tardigrade to support and uplift small/grassroot non-profits who often struggle due to a lack of resources.
She has worked for years in prosocial startups, both internationally, and in the US. Besides growth and development strategy, Alyssa also worked in Social Psychology research for years and believes in a hearty connection between academia and nonprofits.
Alyssa chose the name Tardigrade Development after directly experiencing the impact that a lack of resources and the "silo mentality" can have on small but mighty movements, leaders, and social enterprises. Her mission continues to be a connector and amplifier for the little guys that keep on building no matter if a moon is in their way!
I build grassroots movements for a better world.
I’m an attorney, mediator, community organizer, advocate, coalition-builder and founder of advocacy startups with over thirteen years of international movement-building experience.
Originally from Australia, I have been involved in various political and advocacy initiatives, including co-founding the Australian Progressives and running as a candidate for the Keep Sydney Open Party in the 2019 New South Wales elections.
Currently, I live in the United States. I am a fierce advocate against authoritarianism, and believe the way forward is a global, community-rooted democracy movement.
I'm a member of the Bar in Vermont, United States and New South Wales, Australia.
